Get the info you need to manage notices for Manitoba, including submitting a power of attorney and understanding common issues.
Power of Attorney
Manitoba requires a Power of Attorney (POA) for Avalara to resolve notices for you.
To submit a POA:
- Obtain and complete a Manitoba Authorization/Cancellation of Representative form. An officer listed with Canada must sign the form.
- Send the completed form to the Manitoba Finance Taxation Division using the fax number or mailing address provided on the form. Processing takes about 2 - 4 weeks.
Send the completed form and notice by submitting a case. Processing takes about 6 - 8 weeks.
After we have a POA on file, you don't have to submit another one unless something has changed.
This is the most common notice issue to resolve for Manitoba. See Manage Tax Notices for additional details about resolving notice issues.
Manitoba has its own registration and returns, in addition to the GST/HST.
Make sure you're registered and filing returns at the local level, if you're collecting provincial sales tax in Manitoba.
