How can I update transactions after adding a tax rule?

Overview

You want to know how to update your existing transactions to reflect a tax rule that was recently added (or changed).

Resolution

  • Recalculate tax on the transaction to update it with the new tax rule. 
  • You can do this in your accounting system, in the admin console under Transactions, or by using a Transaction Import
    • Changes made in the admin console do not update your accounting system, so most customers make the change in their accounting system where possible so both systems are updated.
