Why does tax change after I validate an address?


You see that the tax rate changes using the same address if you calculate tax after the address is validated, and you want to know why the rate changes.

  • A validated address is a pin point location, a non-validated address can be treated as zip code based tax, which may be a different location than the full address once validated.
    • When you validate an address we calculate based on the pin point location of the address.
    • Using a non-validated address, we usually calculate based on the address or zip code, so a different pin point location with different tax districts could be used
