I see a change to the build of the California Rates files, the 1% for the Counties is showing as a special tax jurisdiction now, what caused that?
From time to time, we make enhancements to AvaTax to increase the accuracy and usability of the product. Effective April 1, 2016, we added new special tax jurisdictions to the state of California to match how each individual rate is represented on BOE Form 401-A2. This did not alter the total combined rates for California however. The state assigned codes for the new special tax jurisdiction applies to the so called “local tax” on BOE Form 401-A2. All state assigned codes for “district” level taxes remain the same. For additional information related to these changes, please see our maintenance release guide for April 2016.
