Why am I getting different tax calculations between Prod and Dev?

Overview

You have the same transaction in their Production and Development (Sandbox) account but tax is calculating differently. You have the account set up exactly the same with the same Nexus settings, etc.

Environment

Resolution

  • Confirm the settings are the same for the below:
    • Nexus
    • Company Settings
    • Same address
    • Same Tax Code
    • Check with your account manager that both your production account and development (sandbox) account are set to the same subscription level;
      • if one has Avalara Pro System codes enabled, and the other does not, this may result in a different calculation between the two accounts.
