What do the error codes on the TAPPLY report in SalesTax II mean?

Overview

On the TAPPLY report, which details the outcome of the apply monthly rates update option, there are three error/warning codes 1,2 & 3. appearing as "*WARNING*  TAXCOMP ERROR X." and you want to know if any action is required on your part.

Resolution

  • The TAPPLY report, which details the results of the apply monthly rates update option, example:

  • Error code 1: Change Record Not Found: The update tried to change a record that did not exist.
    • This indicates a problem with your rates database, contact support@avalara.com to report this issue.
    • Generally, a full rates refresh is performed in this situation.
  • Error code 2: Add Record Already Here: The update file attempted to add a new record but the record already existed in your rates file.
    • This is a warning only and does not indicate a problem with your system. It can be ignored.
  • Error code 3: Delete Not Found: The update file attempted to delete a record that didn't exist in your rates file.
    • This is a warning only and does not indicate a problem with your system. It can be ignored.
