What can be done if an address will not validate, even when using General Delivery?

Overview

You want to know what to do if an address does not validate even if General Delivery is added to a spare address line.

Environment

Avalara AvaTax

 

Resolution

  • Ensure you are using 'General Delivery' in Line 2 and including CityState, and Zip code, all must be accurate
    • For systems with only one address line, list General Delivery at the end of Line 1 (after the street address)
    • We will return tax for the postal (zip) codenot the specific street address, using the General Delivery area
  • If you are using General Delivery with correct address City, State, and Zip, but the system will not accept it, send the address to support@avalara.com, include:
    • Full street address (House number, street, City, State/Province, Zip/Postal code)
    • Image of location from online map (Google, Bing, MapQuest, etc.) showing the physical location pinpoint
    • General Delivery will no longer be needed once the address is added to our system
  • We will review the provided information and update our database if possible, if it is not possible to update our database we will provide specific next steps
