AvaTax for Communications allows you to export your customized settings, so you can easily import them into another account or environment. For example, you can test a customization in your sandbox account and then export the settings so you can import them into your production account.
This is currently a beta feature available only to some customers using the REST API. See this guide for more information.
Before you begin
Customizations have to be assigned to a profile to be applied to tax calculations, so make sure you have created a profile before setting up your customizations.
|Avalara recommends testing all customizations in your sandbox account before you add them to your production account. After you add customizations to your production account, run test transactions or use the tax determination calculator to make sure you receive the expected results before you complete any bill runs.|
- In the Communications Customer Portal, select Settings.
The Settings page opens.
- Next to Customizations, select Manage.
The Customizations page opens.
- Select one of the following tabs:
- Advanced customizations
- Find the customization you want to export, then select more (...).
- Select Export.
A JSON file is downloaded. You can use this file as a backup of your settings while you test adjustments to the customization, or you can then import the file in a different account.
