AvaTax provides several tools to monitor exemption certificate entry activity. For more information, read our ECMS - frequently asked questions.
View activity in the Exemptions screen
Look up activity details related to exemption certificate entries.
- On the Organization tab, click the Exemption Certificate button for a company.
- On the Exemptions screen, filter the Exemption Certificate Entry List to display a specific group of records.
- Three columns reflect exemption certificate entry activity:
Status: Indicates if an exemption certificate entry is Active, Expired or Revoked.
Applied: Indicates an exemption certificate entry was used to process one or more transactions.
End Date: Indicates the date an exemption certificate entry expired or expires. To view this field, click the Expand button next to a Customer Name.
View the Exemption Exposure table
The Exemption Exposure table displays thefor all companies in AvaTax, including warnings based on the age of the exemption exposure. When the Enable Exemption Certificate Management System (ECMS) is checked, the Exemption Exposure table displays as a widget on the Home tab of the Admin Console. The Exemption Exposure table is a graphical representation of the Standard Sales Tax Reports/Reconcile Reports/ECMS Exemption Exposure Aging Report.
The Full Report hyperlink displays the report used for the table.
View expiration alerts
ECMS Certificate Expiration Alerts display exemption certificate entries that expired in the past 30 days, or expire in the next 30 days.
On the Home tab, click ECMS Certificate Expiration Alerts in Account Alerts.
- On the Alerts screen, review the details for each alert record.
