Enable sales tax calculation using AvaTax item code

Follow the below steps to list down the alcohol items you sell in your storefront and to capture the sales tax when the transaction is made:

  1. In your AvaTax account, create an item code and link it with the respective beverage alcohol tax codes. To do that, follow these steps.

    Note

Item code must be prefixed with UPC:, for example UPC:12345.

  2. After creating an item code with a respective tax code, follow the below steps, to map the item code with a related product id:
    • In your Salesforce B2C SFRA >> Merchant Tools >> Products. Look for the beverage alcohol product id which is unique for every product.
    • Select the product and click Lock to edit it, and in the Order Attributes >> UPC field, enter the Item code which you want to map for sales tax calculation.
  3. After mapping, now all the transactions made on that product id in your storefront, will reflect the attributes associated with the mapped item code and sales tax will be calculated based on the linked tax code.
