Power of Attorney
Virginia requires a Power of Attorney (POA) for Avalara to resolve notices for you.
To submit a POA:
- Obtain and complete a Virginia PAR 101 Power of Attorney form
- Fax the completed POA form to the Virginia Department of Revenue at 804-254-6111. Processing takes about 2 weeks.
Send the completed POA form and notice to us by submitting a case. Processing takes about 6 - 8 weeks.
After we have a POA on file, you don't have to submit another one unless something has changed.
These are the most common notice issues to resolve for Virginia. See Manage Tax Notices for additional details about resolving notice issues.
There are three types of returns that can be filed: ST-7, ST-8, and ST-9.
Make sure you schedule the correct return for your account.
A notice is generated if a duplicate payment is made and one payment is blocked.
