The following states support two-factor authentication:
- District of Columbia
- New Mexico
- North Dakota
- South Carolina
- West Virginia
For details to configure two-factor authentication, see Set up two-factor authentication in Avalara Returns.
Note: Two-factor authentication is used when a login requires an emailed security code to be entered as a second step when signing in to a website. States that use two-factor authentication must have the authentication email updated on the DOR website to the unique Avalara-provided email found in the Returns settings page. The email is in the format email@example.com. Your email will be copied on all communications sent to the authentication email.
