How do I resolve "Could Not Open Peachtree General.Dat File" in Sage 50

Overview

When Attempting to Access "Select Journal Transaction(s)" In AvaTax for Sage 50 it results in the error message "Could Not Open Peachtree General.Dat File"

Environment

Sage 50

Resolution

  • If "Could Not Open Peachtree General.Dat File Status = 11"

    • Company folder path no longer exists/broken

  • If "Could Not Open Peachtree General.Dat File Status = 12"

    • Company Folder path exists but company file does not

  • In both cases please confirm that the correct company file is selected in Configuration > Select company
