How do I resolve "Tax service is not enabled for this account" in Sage 500?

Overview

When trying to access the "Maintain Tax Class Mapping" under "AvaTax" > "Maintenance" we receive "Tax Service is not enabled for this account. Please contact Avalara Support".

Environment

Sage 500

Resolution

  • Verify credentials are valid

  • Remove Sage Sales Tax Server and Sage Sales Tax Client

  • Reinstall Sage Sales Tax Server and Sage Sales Tax Client

    • If using multiple workstations Sage Sales Tax Client will need to be un-installed and re-installed on each workstation

  • Re-enter the Avalara Account Credentials and Test Connection. You should no longer receive the error.
