How can I schedule a start date for tax calculation and reconciliation?

Avalara AvaTax lets you schedule a date from when you want sales tax to be calculated on your transactions. AvaTax calculates tax and performs reconciliation on all transactions that are done on and after the scheduled date, termed as the Start Date. In other words, AvaTax does not perform tax calculation and reconciliation on the transactions done before the scheduled Start Date.


After completing this how-to you will be able to schedule a start date for tax calculation and reconciliation.


  1. Sign in to AvaTax for QuickBooks Online.
  2. On the Manage your integration page, select the Calculation active check box (if not selected already).
  3. Select the AvaTax connector settings block. The QuickBooks Connector Settings page is displayed.
  4. Under Avalara account, enter a date in the Schedule Start Date for AvaTax Calculation box.

    Note: AvaTax will consider transactions done on and after this scheduled date for tax calculation and reconciliation.
  5. Select the Save button.

    On successful completion of settings, you receive a confirmation message.
