Will AvaTax for Quickbooks work with Estimates?

Overview

You want to know how AvaTax for QuickBooks behaves with Estimates.

Environment

Resolution

  • Any template created from an Estimate will use the Default Shipping address listed on the customer record to calculate tax
    • Estimates can ONLY use the default shipping address to calculate tax
    • Estimates can show a shipping and billing address on the Work Order, Sales Order, Estimate, Quote etc., but it will only send the default address to Avalara for tax calculation.
  • Estimates (any template including Work Order) are not sent as committed documents to the Avalara Admin Console

Note: Tax calculation on an Estimate is the same as is needed on an Invoice, select AVATAX as the Tax Item.
