Why am I getting an address is incomplete or invalid in Netsuite?


You're trying to calculate tax, but keep getting an error  "An Address is incomplete or invalid." The customer's address looks correct and you want to know how to resolve this error.



NetSuite OneWorld


  • Verify the Destination (shipping) and Origin (company or location) address.
    • Click 'Edit' to verify the address fields are populated.
  • On the 'Shipping' tab of the Sales Order or Invoice ensure an address is selected under 'Ship To Select'. 
  • If using NetSuite OneWorld, check the subsidiary address.
  • If using Locations, check the location address 
    • To locate locations, click 'Setup' > 'Company' > 'Locations' 
      • Click 'Edit' to verify the address field is populated.
      • If you do not want to use Locations, check 'Disable Location Code' in the AvaTax configuration. Go to, Avalara > Setup > Configure Avalara > Tax Calculation
    • Note: if there have been customization's, Locations may be named differently.  Check with your NetSuite Administrator.
  • Validate the addresses in the Tax Calculator or USPS.  
    • If the USPS cannot find your address either, please enter "General Delivery" on Address Line 2.
