I created a new company in Netsuite, why can't I get it to connect to Avatax?

Overview

I created a new company on the Admin Console and want my new Netsuite Company to connect. I have tested the account number and license key and entered my credentials, but the company code box is missing from the screen and I am not connected.

Resolution

  • In Netsuite you have to use the Internal ID of the company as the Company Code on the Admin Console.

  • If you created a company but did not use the Internal ID this will need to be changed by Avalara Technical Support to match the Internal ID in Netsuite.

    • You can see the Internal ID under Setup > Company > Subsidiaries

    • To request the Company Code be changed in the Admin Console:

      • Have a user who is an Account Admin in the Admin Console account email support@avalara.com, include:
        • Account number 
        • Company code(s) of the company you would like changed 
          • If a company already exists in the Admin Console account with the same company code you would like to change to, please request to have this Company Code changed as well
            • Company codes cannot be duplicated in a single account
        • Contact information and company title
        • Make sure the request email comes from a company domain email address or is on company letterhead
  • Make sure the company and any subsidiary companies are set to use AvaTax as the default tax code
