Why is my prepayment amount zero on the liability worksheet?

You are required file prepayments for certain states but noticed that the liability worksheet displays a zero.

Resolution

  • Prepayment requirements must be reported to Avalara in order for them to be filed.
    • If Avalara has not been notified of this requirement, the prepayments process has not been setup for your company for them to be calculated and added to your worksheet.
      • Prepayments are calculated one of two ways:
        • Some are calculated from the current month data in Avatax
          • If there is no transaction data in AvaTax for the correct month, then there will be no data for us to calculate the prepayment on.
        • Some are calculated from prior year return data
          • If Avalara does not have a return that we filed in our system for the same month prior year, we will not be able to calculate a prepayment.
      • To correct this issue
