Why do I receive a service interruption error when pulling reports?


When generating a report in the Admin Console, you receive the following error in the download pop-up window:

" An unexpected failure occurred. The error may be due to a temporary interruption in the service. Please try again or contact Avalara Support if the failure persists."

  • This error usually occurs when the report tries to pull too much data and times out

  • To make sure this is not an issue with the service, please change your date range to one month or one quarter and try running the report again

    • If you do a rather large amount of transactions per month, you may need to set the date range to one day or one week but this is not common
