Explanation regarding the Zip Code Cross Ref Maintenance file found in SalesTax II.
- Avalara will manage standard cross reference data in this file based on updates received directly fromUnited States Postal Service.
- Updates are applied on a monthly basis as part of the update service.
- User may ‘tailor’ zip+4 codes in two ways. User may code zip+4 cross reference records as being in theunincorporated area of a county (a lower tax rate may apply in these areas). User may also code zip+4cross reference records to point to specific cities (supersede city name input parameter when callprogram TCALC).
- The Zip Code Cross Ref Maintenance file is based on updates received directly from United States Postal Service. Updates are applied on a monthly basis as part of the update service.
NOTE: Avalara software does not maintain these ‘tailored’ zip+4 codes. It is user’s responsibility to add,
change, or delete them or in the case of a file ‘refresh’ make sure they are placed back in the file. (A file
refresh means we completely replace the file).
