How can I resolve permissions issues for specific users in GP?


Sometimes users will not be able to access avalara functionality while the SA user can. This can be resolved by following the steps below


Dynamics GP


  • Log in to GP as SA
  • Navigate to Microsoft Dynamics GP > Tools> Setup> System> Security Roles
  • Type in AVATAX ADMIN in the Role ID and Role Name fields
  • You can leave role description blank
  • Click the checkbox to the left of the security task AVA_ADMIN
  • Click Save in the upper left
  • Navigate to Tools> Setup> System> User Security
  • Modify the user in question to include the AVATAX ADMIN role
  • Click Save
