Why does this error, "Error 1316: Specified user already exists", show when installing AvaTax for Microsoft Dynamics GP?

Overview

AvaTax needs to be installed for the first time, or reinstalled. When running the installer this error is given:

"Error 1316 Specified user already exists"

Environment

Microsoft Dynamics GP

Resolution

  • Save the Tool.
    • Then run the program, and choose this option "Detect problems and let me select the fixes to apply".

 

  • When prompted, choose installing when asked where the problem exists.
  • Then on the screen to select the program choose avalara/avatax.

 

  • Once the tool completes and closes, try to reinstall AvaTax.
