How to resolve the error: "AVA Line Already Exists" in Microsoft Dynamics NAV?


When trying to post a transaction, the error message below is given:

"AVA Line Already Exists"

This error prevents you from posting, but may allow you to post after several tries.


Microsoft Dynamics NAV


  • This error has occurred in versions of NAV 2009, NAV 2013, NAV 2016 and sometimes occurs when working with transactions created prior to the installation of AvaTax
  • Please try the steps listed below:
    • Delete the records in the following tables
      • AVA Header (14073502), AVA Line (14073503), AVA Detail (14073504), AVA Juris (14073509)
  • Upgrade to the latest connector of AvaTax for Dynamics NAV 
  • If you still receive this error, please reach out to support with copies of the transaction and any log details you can provide from NAV


Note: Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 is no longer supported by Microsoft. As such, the AvaTax integrations for NAV 2009 are no longer supported by Avalara, as of April 30, 2016. This existing knowledge base documentation is available to provide known paths to resolution for documented issues. If you are using a version affected by service discontinuation and want to maintain access to Avalara Support, you’ll need to upgrade to the latest version of the integration as soon as possible.
