How do I resolve the error The remote name could not be resolved in AvaTax?


You tried to use an Avalara feature in your accounting system (calculate tax, address validation, check credentials, post invoice batch, etc.) and the error "The remote name could not be resolved" appeared.

  • This occurs if the system cannot access the AvaTax service through the internet:
    • Verify your internet connection is active on your workstation and the server
    • Verify it is possible to ping
    • Verify the credentials are correct in your integration, should be (or in testing)
    • If everything appears to be working, submit a case to Avalara Support.
