I am getting an ActiveX error when I save a transaction, and test connections fail.
Steps to resolve the ActiveX error and to register the dll on the affected work stations:
1: Locate the “register_for_com.bat” file, C:\Program Files (x86)\Avalara\AvaTax Adapter\Bin\
2: Open the command prompt as administrator. This can be done my going to the start menu, typing “cmd” into the space. This will bring up the command prompt option; right click the icon and select “Run as Administrator”.
3: From within the command prompt type the following command: cd “C:\Program Files (x86)\Avalara\AvaTax Adapter\Bin\” and hit enter.
4: On the new line, enter: register_for_com.bat and hit enter You will see a lot of text come up, but the important part is the success message.
At this point, the client machine should be good to go, but if you want further confirmation, you will be able to see a new file in the “C:\Program Files (x86)\Avalara\AvaTax Adapter\Bin\” directory called Avalara.avatax.adapter.tlb.
