How do I reset my license key in AvaTax Update?


You need to reset your license key in AvaTax Update.







A license key is specific and unique to your account.  Most business applications require you to have a license key to connect your business application to AvaTax. If you have both a production and a sandbox account, you need a license key for each account. Avalara doesn't retain your license key.

  • Resetting the key breaks all existing connections, instantly, so we recommend using the current license key
    • It's the same as resetting a password 
    • Search an Account Admin's email for an email from Avalara containing the full Account Number
    • Check the Configuration Settings in any connected accounting software
  • To obtain a new license key have one of your Account Admin users log in to AvaTax Update 
    • Go to Settings > License and API Keys.
      • A new license key is emailed to all Account Admin users (as shown in the Manage Users page)
        • If the license key reset email is not found in the inbox, please check your junk/spam folder
        • Please check company email filter or quarantine software as well
        • Update ALL connected systems with the new license key to continue their use of the Avalara service.
