This page contains frequently asked questions (FAQs) and information about Avalara AvaTax Free Trial.

How do I reset my Free Trial password?

Go to your AvaTax account login page and click Forgot your password? You'll be redirected to a page to type in your username or email address. A link will then be sent to the email address you entered with further instructions on how to reset your password.

 

Can I extend my Free Trial?

Yes, you may extend your trial after the initial trial period expires. To extend your trial, log in to AvaTax following trial expiration, and select Need more time on our free trial? This will reactivate your AvaTax trial account for an additional trial period.

How do I cancel my Free Trial?

Your free trial will automatically expire after 60 days. No action required. We do not have any credit card on file for trial customers, so you can simply let the trial expire.

 

Is the Free Trial available to businesses outside of North America?

The AvaTax trial is available to businesses globally; however we require a U.S. or Canadian address to initiate your trial account. This address is used to accelerate on-boarding and activate your first active tax jurisdiction. You may edit these settings after you start your trial.

 

Where can I find pricing information for Avalara's products?

For pricing information on Avalara products, new customers should call our Sales Team at 877-780-4848, Ext. 1. For existing customers please reach out to your Avalara Customer Account Manager (CAM)

 

My developer team has technical questions. Where can I go to get help?

Avalara’s Developer site is a good place to start. There, you’ll find links to all our developer documentation, SDKs, and API reference material. In addition, you can also post any specific questions on our Developer Help Forums. The forums are actively monitored by the Avalara Developer Relations Team on a daily basis.

 

I need help determining where I am required to collect sales tax. What resources does Avalara offer?

Avalara has a variety of resources to help you better understand your sales tax obligations. A good place to start is our sales tax nexus resources page on Avalara.com. There, you’ll find a state-by-state guide to the different types of nexus laws that may affect your business. If you're not sure if your company has nexus in a specific country or U.S. state or territory, speak to your tax professional. 

 

Where can I find information about tax rates?

Avalara’s sales tax calculator and rate lookup is a good place to start. This calculator returns sales tax rates based on geolocation, which is more accurate than rates based on ZIP codes, states or counties alone.

 

Where can I find information about tax codes?

Use Get AvaTax codes for goods and services to find the Avalara codes that determine the taxability of the goods and services you sell. We also recommend viewing this video focused on tax codes.

 

How do I partner with Avalara so I can better help my customers meet their tax compliance needs?

I'm building a tax integration using Avalara's API and I would like to become a partner for the purposes of reselling it. How do I do that?

For which platforms does Avalara have a pre-built integration?

Avalara has more than 700 pre-built integrations, or connectors, across ERP, billing, point of sale, e-commerce and marketplace platforms. You can find information about available connectors on our Integrations page on Avalara.com.

 

What if Avalara doesn’t have a pre-built integration for my business platform?

If you’re using a platform for which Avalara does not have a pre-built integration, you can leverage our API to build one. See The Avalara API for information about Avalara’s API. You may also import transactions individually within the AvaTax interface or in bulk using the AvaTax transaction import template. See Add or Import Transactions for instructions.
