Why is my exempt customer being charged tax?

Overview

I have a customer who is exempt and is being charged tax on a transaction.

Resolution

  • This can happen if the effective date of your cert is after the docdate of your invoice.
  • Check that to be sure and if that is the cause of the issue fix the date in Avalara CertCapture for the signed date of the cert, hit queue API resend, and recalculate your invoice.
