Why are Lat/Long coordinates not used in Address Validation?

Overview

 

We are trying to use latitude and longitude to validate addresses, but in testing it completely ignores these fields or produces an Insufficient Address error.

Avalara AvaTax

Resolution

  • Latitude and Longitude coordinates do not trigger address validation
    • Using lat/long (geo-coordinates) provides the correct location without needing validation to pinpoint the address
  • To use the Lat/Long location for tax calculation the physical address must be left blank
    • Remove General Delivery, City, State, Zip , and Country to use Lat/Long instead of the physical address
