Why am I seeing a seemingly random error when doing a blank certificate search in Avalara CertCapture?

Overview

 Whenever I try a search on CertCapture (for any of our customers) I receive the following error message, even though I have left the customer ID field blank on the search screen. 

Environment

Avalara CertCapture

Resolution

Auditor users must be assigned certificates to view.

  • Perform a certificate search
  • From the Perform Action On Results drop down select Assign Certificates to Account
  • Select the User and Access Time
  • Click Assign Certificate Access

The above must be performed by an admin or advance user. Once certificates are assigned an auditor user can perform a search.
