What is the Status Date and why is it different than the Doc Date?

Overview

You are reviewing transaction in the Transactions tab and notice the Status Date is different from the Document Date.

Avalara AvaTax

Resolution

  • The Status Date is the date the transaction was last adjusted
  • Seeing a different DocDate and Status Date is not unusual and can happen when:
    • A transaction is posted and then manually edited in the Admin Console
    • A transaction is added as Uncommitted and then changed to Committed status
    • The transaction date was post-dated and then sent to the Admin Console
