How do I resolve "Tax override cannot be applied. Nexus is not configured"

When importing it results in the error "Tax override cannot be applied. Nexus is not configured"

Environment

Avalara AvaTax

Resolution

You do not have Nexus for the jurisdiction you are trying to apply tax.  

  • In the Admin Console go to Organization Tab > Select the company in question > Nexus Jurisdiction > Select Jurisdiction
  • There are two resolutions depending on the set up
    • Ensure the State/Province or Jurisdiction in question is checked.  
      • Save
    • Change the Begin Date to fall within the range of the documents in question where a tax override is applying
      • Save
