How do I remove local jurisdictions in California?

Overview

You need to remove all local jurisdictions in California because the Board of Equalization has informed you that your company has no locations in California and you only need to collect state and county tax.

Resolution

  • Go to the Admin Console > Organization tab > Nexus > click Select Local Jurisdictions by United States, then California:
    • If you could need to process any returns crediting the local tax:
      • Click Filter > View Selected > change Records Per Page: to 999 > uncheck all > change Default end date to lst date you collected local taxes > check all (this changes the expiration date of nexus) click Save
    • If you do not need to return any collected local tax on a returned sale:
      • Uncheck all > click Save
