How do I find my license key?


You need to use your license key to connect your system to Avalara AvaTax and want to know where it is stored.


Avalara AvaTax


  • Search the initial Account Admin's email for an email containing the full account number and license key. This will only be sent to the initial Account Admin.
  • Check the configuration settings in any connected accounting software for your license key
  • To obtain a new License Key have one of your Account Admin users login into the Admin Console and go to Settings >  Reset license key > Generate
    • A new license key will be emailed to all Account Admin users (as shown in the Manage Users page)
      • If the License Key reset email is not found in the inbox, please check your junk/spam folder.
      • Please check company email filter or quarantine software as well.

NOTE: Please keep in mind that Avalara doesn't keep your License Key on file. If you choose to reset the License Key, any connection already made will be severed. You must immediately update ALL connected systems with the new License Key to continue their use of Avalara service.
