How can I view CertCapture usage?

Overview

You want to know how usage is calculated for Avalara CertCapture and where to view your current storage usage.

Resolution

  • Every unique certificate Document ID is counted in usage (1 State = 1 certificate), that unique certificate can have multiple customers attached
    • Example: Let's say you have a multi-juris certificate with all 50 states linked to it, that is counted as 50 certificates in your usage.
      • Attach 20 customers to those certificates, you still have only 50 certificates in usage because there are only 50 unique Document IDs
      • Upload a new PDF (even if it is the same image), creating a new certificate and link 1 state to it, you have increased your certificate usage to 51
  • ​​​​​​​The total certificates*** counted towards your service plan are shown on the Dashboard tab at the top in the ACCOUNT & USER DETAILS section:
    • ​​​​​​​Go to Dashboard > Number of Documents will scroll into view > to see details:
      • Click Search > Certificate Search > choose Document Type for the particular usage you want to review > click Get Search Results
        • ​​​​​​​***For customers who use Avalara CertCapture to manage Sales, Excise, and/or  W-9 documents, using Certificate Search is required to see document count for each service type
