Though you can find both the API keys and license keys associated with your account in Avalara at Settings > License and API keys, they differ in two important ways:
- API keys are associated with an individual user, whereas license keys are associated with an account.
- You can have multiple API keys at one time (an API key is created each time you set up an extractor for a company), but only one license key.
Some transaction errors direct you to regenerate your API key.
- In Avalara, go to Settings > Integrations.
- Select Regenerate API key next to the Extractor connection for the transaction with the error.
- Select Yes.
The key regenerates immediately.
