This article applies to:Connector for Salesforce Sales Cloud

Use AvaTax Mapper Studio to easily map Salesforce CPQ fields to AvaTax fields.

Find more information about the AvaTax fields in the API reference on the Avalara Developer site.

Steps

  1. In Salesforce CPQ, select Setup, enter "installed packages" in the search field, and then select Installed Packages.
  2. Select Configure next to AvaTax for Salesforce CPQ and then, on the Advanced Settings tab, select Launch Mapper Studio.
  3. Select the integration category you want to map:
    • AddressValidation: Fields used when validating addresses
    • TaxCalculation: Fields used when calculating tax
    • CancelTaxCalculation: Fields used when refunding or cancelling invoices
  4. Under Integration Points, select the integration point you want to map.
On the right, a query section and two tables display, with arrows on the gable that show which Salesforce CPQ fields are currently mapped to which AvaTax fields.
    • The AvaTax Request Mappings table shows which fields in Salesforce CPQ send to which fields in AvaTax.
      • The Salesforce CPQ fields display in the left-hand column and include both native Salesforce CPQ fields and custom fields you've added.
      • The AvaTax fields display in the right hand column.
    • The AvaTax Response Mappings table shows which fields in AvaTax send to which fields in Salesforce CPQ.
      • The AvaTax fields display in the left-hand column.
      • The Salesforce CPQ fields display in the right-hand column and include both native Salesforce CPQ fields and custom fields you've added.
  5. If the field you want to map isn't displayed in the tables:
    1. In the Query section, select Modify Soql.
    2. Select the field you want to add in the Add Field list, and then select Execute. The field is added to the mapping tables.
  6. To remove a current mapping, select the arrow that indicated that mapping. The arrow disappears and the mapping is removed.
  7. To add a mapping, select the field name in the left-hand column, and then select the name of the field in the right-hand column to which it should map.
  8. Select Save to Server. The mappings are saved.
