Validate addresses in QuickBooks Online

This article applies to:AvaTax for QuickBooks Online

As long as you left address validation enabled when you installed AvaTax for QuickBooks Online, AvaTax automatically validates the addresses you enter for your customers and corrects those addresses when they're wrong.

  • AvaTax for QuickBooks Online only validates addresses for customer records created in the previous 30 days.

One common error when validating addresses is "Unable to parse the Shipping address..."

When you see this error, check the shipping address and make sure the country abbreviation is on the same line as the postal code. For example:

1000 4th Ave.
Seattle, WA 98104 US

OR

1000 4th Ave.
Seattle, WA
98104 US

Steps

  1. In QuickBooks Online, select Apps.
  2. Select the My Apps tab.
  3. Next to the Avalara AvaTax app, select Action > Launch.
The AvaTax for QuickBooks Online app opens in a new tab.
  4. Select Address Validation if it isn't selected.
