Set up application logging

Enable and set up application logging to view any errors in the transactions or transaction requests and responses.


  1. Sign in to the Magento admin console.
  2. Go to Stores > Configuration.
  3. From the Configuration page, go to Sales > Tax.
  4. Under AvaTax Application Logs, enable or disable application logging.
  5. Select the Logging Mode from the following options: 
    • Database: Logs are stored in the Magento database.
    • File: Logs are stored under the user machine/system directory.
  6. Specify the number of days for which you want the logs to be stored in the database.
    If you specify nothing, then the logs are stored permanently.
  7. Select Save Config.
