Migrate AvaTax data from Microsoft Dynamics NAV to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

This article applies to:AvaTax

If your business uses Dynamics NAV 2016, NAV 2017, or NAV 2018 and you're switching to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central version 16.0.7.0 or later, migrate your Avalara transaction data to set up your reports in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

We recommend you first migrate a test environment before attempting to migrate a live environment. It's also a good idea to make a backup of the database you're migrating, just in case something unexpected happens.

Before you begin

  • Log in to Avalara and go to Settings > Integrations.
  • Select AvaTax Data Migration Tool to download a zipped folder containing two files:
    • The Avalara Rapid Start Package
    • The Avalara Data Migration Template, which contains six worksheets in one Excel workbook
  • Unzip the folder.
