What does a schema change (change in database version) indicate?

Overview

You want to know what it means when there is a schema change (change in database version).

Environment

Avalara AvaTax for Communications License

Resolution

  • A schema change, or change in the  database version, indicates that the previous versions of Avalara AvaTax for Communications License (identified as 9.xx.yyyy.z) will not work with the new tax data.  As a result, you must update all binaries, including -- and not limited to -- the .NET .dll and associated files, as well as the Java class libraries. You are required to update these libraries and binaries monthly.
  • For Windows, update the following (as applicable):

EZTax2.dll : Engine Library - this file should always be updated
EZTax.NET.dll : .NET wrapper – update if using .NET
EZTaxJava.dll : Java c++ library – update if using Java
eztax.jar : Java jar file – update if using java

  • For Linux, update the following (as applicable):

libEZTax.so : Engine Library - this file should always be updated
libEZTaxJava.so : Java c++ library – update if using Java
eztax.jar : Java jar file – update if using java
