Set up Avalara Returns for Accountants

Setting up Returns for Accountants to prepare and file tax returns for your clients involves four essential milestones. Each milestone links to detailed step-by-step instructions to help you successfully complete each one. 

Milestones

  1. Set up your firm.
    Adjust your firm settings to customize your returns preparation workflow, and then add an account for each of your clients.
  2. Organize your team.
    Add other users to your account and customize your Returns for Accountants page view.
  3. Add client companies.
    Set up a basic company profile for each of your clients. A company profile includes information about their company locations, where they collect tax, and contact information.
  4. Schedule client returns.
    Request funding power of attorney for each of your clients, and schedule the return forms that you want Avalara to file on their behalf.

After you've completed these milestones, you're ready to begin preparing and filing returns on behalf of your clients. Make sure that you keep your clients' information up-to-date, and continue to prepare and file returns each month.
