Run a liability worksheet report

If you use Returns, use liability worksheet export reports to get summaries of your tax activity and liability by state.

AvaTax Update begins updating report data every 30 minutes, so you may need to wait to see your most recent transactions in your reports. Go to the Transactions page for up-to-the-minute activity.

To run a liability worksheet export report:

  1. Go to Reports, and click Liability & tax return reports
  2. Choose Liability worksheet reports from the Report category dropdown, and select the type of report you want to run in the Report name dropdown
  3. Fill out the required fields. In most cases the purpose of the fields are self-explanatory, but in some cases you may want to use the descriptions below for more information. Once you've set up your parameters for the report you want to run, click Generate report.

Determine which report you need

Report type Description
Tax Liability Worksheet State Summary Shows a one-row summary of liability data for the selected month for each selected region.
Tax Liability Worksheet Summary Return Detail Shows the tax return information for each selected region for the selected month.
Tax Liability Worksheet Carryover Credits Shows the details of all applied or excluded credits at the tax return level for the selected month's returns. Find out more about carry-over credits.

Explaining worksheet types

If you've requested that Avalara amend a return filing, two records are available for that return--the original unamended version, with whatever mistakes you felt needed to be fixed, and the final amended version. The Worksheet Type list lets you choose which version you want to see in your report.

If you haven't asked Avalara to amend your return for a month, that month won't have any data in the report if you choose Amended from the Worksheet Type list.
