Change item classification settings in AvaTax

After you send the products you sell to Avalara as part of the Item Classification service, they're assigned Harmonized System (HS) tariff codes in AvaTax. Adjust item classification settings to control how often tariff codes are assigned, how they apply to your AvaTax calculations, and where they're exported for use in your business applications.
Before you begin
Steps
- In AvaTax, go to Settings > What You Sell.
- Under Item Classification Settings, select View Settings.
- Select the input settings that you want to apply to your company:
- Send product records by country

Automatically calculate customs duty and import taxes based on Avalara's item classifications. - Post the classification to where I'm hosting
Retrieve your item information to use as you need. When selecting this option, endpoint and API key are required. - Return in an output file that I can FTP out
Retrieve your item information using FTP.
- Update for automatic use in AvaTax calculations
- Select Save Settings.
