Import transactions to Avalara Consumer Use

Import a .csv file to add and upload your consumer use transactions. Review the imported data and, if needed, make changes to ensure that the information you provided is current and accurate.

Avalara Consumer Use is an add-on for AvaTax. Adjust transactions in Avalara Consumer Use and then forward them to your AvaTax company to manage reports and returns.

Before you begin

Download the ACU Transaction Import template

Import templates are also available in the product, under Transactions > Import data. Reference the import template guidelines when creating your file.

Steps

  1. In Avalara Consumer Use, go to Transactions > Import.
  2. Select an import Template and  then select a download link to download the appropriate template.
    If you are using a custom import template, you can also select the Import Type Definition link to download a definition file, which tells you which columns are required and includes any notes that you entered.
  3. Select the Transaction collection date.
  4. Copy transaction data from your business application to the template using the import template guidelines.
  5. Drag and drop the finished file into the upload field, or click Choose file to select it for upload. Click Upload to start the import.

Note

Only files with the ".csv" extension and a size of less than or equal to 4 MB can be imported.

Go to Transactions > Import history to see the import history. Imported transactions are added to Transactions > Process transactions.
