I bought Avalara License Filing. Now what?

You will receive an email with a link to a web-based questionnaire at the address used to set the order up with your Avalara Sales Team. You should receive this email within 2 business days of placing the order. You must set up a Filing Assist Questionnaire username and password. Note, this account is different from your Avataxand other Avalara portal credentials. Questionnaire support and general order inquiries should be directed to the Filing Assist Support Team by phone or the general inbox: bl-filing.assist@businesslicenses.com. All inquiries will be handled in the order in which they were received, and typical response time is within 1 business day. Once you have completed the questionnaire, we will verify that the information submitted is complete and one of the support specialists will reach out to you within 2 business days of you submitting the questionnaire if more information is needed to mark the order ready for processing. Your order will not be processed until all requested information is submitted.  

During the filing process, some registrations/licenses require that the specialist working on your order will need to reach out to your company by email to complete a multi-step verification needed for electronic filing. We will default our communication to the main business contact person and email address listed on the Filing Assist Questionnaire. We cannot file electronically if these verifications are not completed by the business contact.  

Avalara License Filing customers will have their license and State Tax registration applications completed by Avalara and will receive details of the submission. Any online confirmations will be sent to your online order portal accessible through the Filing Assist Questionnaire - click Check Order Status button. Note – You must return all forms signed that are sent to you for signature (if applicable) for us to submit the completed forms to the Authority on your behalf. We will submit this along with your payment of any applicable governmental filing fee (instructions to be provided to you at time of service). You will be able to check the status of your order by logging into the Filing Assist Questionnaire and click the option for Check Order Status. 

Sales Tax Registration application fees will be paid by Avalara when applying online. Some Business Licenses and other-license-type fees (does not include Sales Tax Registration fees) may have additional fees that you must pay in advance of our online filing. These are not additional Avalara service fees, but rather, the required governmental filing fees not included in the base service fee. The specialist filing your licenses may reach out to you via our automated system to request additional funds needed for the required additional business license/other- license-type fees.  

Note: Turnaround times from licensing authorities differ by region and license and therefore we suggest you contact the Authority directly with any concerns once you or Avalara have filed the application.
