Once you have a license in place, the jurisdiction will be in direct contact with you. The first contact is typically issuance of a license certificate that includes the expiration date. The jurisdiction will generally send a renewal notice in ample time prior to the due date, to the address on record. However, it is the licensee’s responsibility to ensure that the license is renewed in time, so if the due date/expiration date is nearing, and there is no communication from the jurisdiction, the licensee should reach out to the jurisdiction to request a renewal invoice or notice, and carry on accordingly. The mechanism to renew may involve paying an amount presented on the invoice, or may require additional calculations, supporting documentations, or inspections, depending on the type of license involved. Instructions to renew will generally be included on the renewal notice or invoice.
