View a taxability matrix

This article applies to:AvaTax

Use the taxability matrix to view the taxability information on items for each jurisdiction in which you sell. Choose to either download the full taxability matrix, which displays all taxability information for all AvaTax tax codes in all jurisdictions for the country you choose, or build a taxability matrix by adding your own AvaTax tax codes and choosing specific jurisdictions to see whether they are taxable or exempt.

The taxability information in the matrix is updated on the first day of each month.

Before you begin

  • You must be an AvaTax user. Go to https://taxcode.avatax.avalara.com/ and then log in to your AvaTax account to view and access the taxability matrix tab. If you are not logged in, you'll only see the tax codes search screen.
  • The taxability matrix does state or territory tax rates only. If a state or territory has individual tax rates in different cities and towns, those are not displayed.
