Exemption certificate status in AvaTax

This article applies to:AvaTax

When using Exemptions in AvaTax, the exemption certificates you create can have one of four statuses:

  • Active
The exemption is active, and is applied to transactions that match the certificate details.
  • Expired
The exemption's expiration date is a date in the past. The certificate is still applied to back-dated transactions prior to its expiration date.
  • Stopped
The exemption has been stopped, and no longer applies to AvaTax transactions based on effective and expiration dates.
  • Pending future
The exemption has an effective date in the future. The certificate status changes to Active on the effective date.

If you need to change the exemption certificate status, navigate to the exemption certificate details and adjust the expiration date, or stop the exemption from applying.

Select View All Exemptions to see all of your company's exemption certificates with ID, Issuing Region, Active Date, Expiration Date, and Status columns.
